So I know that every species eventually reaches a living capacity where it's environment ultimately is supporting as many individuals as possible, at this point the population would reach a plateau and no longer increase. Are we at this plateau and if not do you think we soon will be based on what you've researched?
I don't believe we are at this plateau. From what i got, for the years to come the population is steadily increasing every 5 years and doesn't plan on stopping. (dating back from the 1980's)
The graph shows an upward trend and you mentioned in your predictions few factors that might impact this trend. Do you think that if there will be a third world war or some epidemic, would it increase the death rates? so the population growth will have a decline?
I am amazed at the overall population growth over the past 30 years, imagine if it was exponential and not linear! We are very fortunate living in Canada, we have the resources and food to support our approx. 4 people/sq km density contrary to India's 382 people/sq km!
I think overpopulation could be negative because theres the risk of not having enough resources to keep those people living at a standard living that they'd want to live at.
You have covered the topic well and done a great job maintaining your post! The extra graphics and the overall presentation is very professional. Great Job!
In your opinion are we on our way to be a threat to the world, or harmless?

ReplyDeleteit would defintly increase the death rates but something quite tragic has to happen for the population to start declining.

ReplyDeleteoops- hit send too soon:) Awesome job Jordan- lots that can be discussed!
DeleteGreats facts i didn't know about and that i know now, thanks Alix!
DeleteAs a science and math teacher (and resident of this planet) I love getting into the facts and issues- happy to chat further anytime Jordan:)
DeleteJordan, what do you think about overpopulation? Do you think its negative?

DeleteInteresting topic. I love the fun fact very intricate. Will it have an effect on global warming?
